Looking Forward to 2009
Jiuzhaigou is planning already for a bigger, brighter, better 2009. With political troubles, an earthquake and an Olympic Games all taking their toll on regional development in the Aba region in 2008, there is a strong feeling that this new year-the Chinese New Year starts in February, will be a good one.
Tourism will return, bringing much needed economic benefits, and other parks training and exchange programs with European, American and Chinese partners will ensure that nature conservation and cultural preservation remain high on the agenda.
I am starting new projects with national
parks in China and Afghanistan, and Kieran will continue to develop
sustainable tourism projects for Aba, along with continuing local
community development work in the area of Jiuzhaigou.
Happy New Year.
