The Classroom Adoption Program (CAP) The Classroom Adoption Program is a venue for students to learn about the world through the eyes of their peers. Discussions can include classroom topics, current affairs, daily life, health, education, environmental issues, and creative solutions to conflict resolution. Students are encouraged to learn the native language(s) of their peers as a positive step toward their ability to communicate as future leaders. Correspondence is monitored by the classroom teacher to ensure student participation, compliance with student privacy regulations, and respect for subjects that may be considered inappropriate or illegal by the partner school or its national government. Please direct any questions concerning inappropriate/illegal subject matter to your CAP partner. It is recommended that the exchange of personal addresses (email and postal) between students wait until the end of the school year. |
This will allow the students sufficient time to learn about the culture and stay focused on the curriculum. The final decision must be a mutual agreement between CAP teachers and/or their school administrators. A record of the agreement should be kept by the schools for one-calendar year. Global Academy will, within reason, assist any member school with problems that arise due to failed communication with their CAP partner(s). Grievances must be initiated in writing and include the teacher’s name, membership number, telephone number, and the CAP partner’s name and location. Global Academy is not responsible for the outcome of individual pen relationships. In an effort to protect students from child predators, Global Academy will check the credentials of member schools and may ask for employment verification of participating teachers and administrators. Global Academy reserves the right to cancel or reassign CAP partners for any reason. |
