Girl Walking in Park cartoon

Exploring
A New Park

This Fall Little Sister and I went to a new park and there was a river called the Trinity River. The park’s name is the Trinity River Audubon Center. There was a giant boardwalk that Little Sister and I went on. The volunteers taught us to be good to the environment.

It was fun because we saw three kinds of birds called raptors. We made birds nests but did not get to keep them and we planted our own seeds. Little Sister and I made bookmarks with feathers and got to take them home.

Little Sister finally ate a dried bug called a mealworm. She liked it so much that she wanted to eat more. There was also a giant sand pit under the boardwalk and me and Little Sister played in it.

We are going to keep picking up the trash to take care of the environment. The park is on an old landfill and is home to many animals like birds and beavers. It is important to stay on the boardwalks too, because you could hurt the plants and habitats if you walk in the grass.

Happy New Year!
