November-December
2008
Winter is almost
here and everyone at Global Academy has been busy preparing
for the new year.
November's Jiuzhaigou
Journal
entry has been written by Kieran
Fitzgerald. Kieran is the park's sustainable
tourism and marketing advisor. He is also the
primary contributor to the Jiuzhai Valley National Park
website. Thank you Kieran for volunteering to write this
month's blog.
Geo
Girl and Little
Sister
started their first organic
garden this summer. After a few trials with soil
quality, bugs, and weeds they finally had several successful
crops. The girls traded their zucchinis and cherry
tomatoes with a local restaurant and enjoyed a large breakfast
in exchange. Geo Girl and Little Sister are already
planning next year's crops and hope to add one or
two more raised garden beds. Their article and photos
will be online soon.
Destinations and
Voices are still in
need of submissions. We look forward to
hearing from students all over the world and will be
happy to translate international submissions. The
administrator reads everything before posting and protects the
identity of students, so please don't be shy.
The PayPal link on our Donations
page is finally
working. Global Academy accepts donations in any amount for
our "global community service projects" and administrative needs. Please
visit the link above to learn more.
Our school in Uganda is still in
need of a Classroom Adoption
partner. The students are
11-12 years old and learning English. They attend
school from February through November and will be sending
their letters through the mail.
For more information, please
visit the Classroom Adoption
page or send
your inquiry to cap@global-academy.net.
Global
Academy is constantly being updated. If your
organization or school would like to join our community,
please contact us for more information.
